Abydos is one of the most ancient cities of Egypt and considered as one of the most valuable archaeological sites. The List will start with Menes, the first pharaoh of the united Egypt, and end with Ramses I, Seti’s father. Except for some pharaohs that were to be banished from people’s memories, the list is considered to be a complete enumeration of Ancient Egypt’s rulers and therefore, a precious clue for Egyptologists.
After that we will visit the Osireion, a part of Pharaoh Seti I Temple, which was built to honor the god Osiris and, according to the myth, contained his head. Not far from Seti I‘s Temple you will see a temple built by his son Ramses II, not as well preserved, yet still interesting, as it shows the battles of this pharaoh, maybe the greatest and most powerful man in all the history of the Egyptian Empire, in detailed reliefs.
